20% blog #3, February 21

This week i have been practicing very little because i have not had enough free time from homework. But I have been looking at different songs that i can try to learn to play. I have gotten interested in Mexican music because the solos in the songs are so much more fun to play. One song that I have tried playing is "Midnight Romance" which is Mexican song by Ambition. I personally think that it is a really cool song especially the intro which consists of a D-chord and picking individual strings at a time. If I had more time I think that I would be able to learn the songs much faster because practice makes perfect. Another song that i have wanted learn is "Smells like Teen Spirit" by Nirvana. I think that once i get a little more familiar with my guitar i will try to play this song since it is a little more difficult than the ones that i am learning right now.
This is like the guitar that I have.

20% Blog #1, 2014

We are planning on changing our project since we were not really getting anything done. Our new project is that my partner Eric is going to teach me how to play guitar. We have already started and he already taught me a basic chord. Called the D-chord, a chord is when you hold down more than to strings at a time. The first song that i will be learning is "Hey There Delilah" by Plain White-Tees. I started practicing every day when i have free time. I practice that D-chord and i also do some scales that i learned on YouTube. Scales are finger exercises that help you learn the notes and improve your picking speed. I will continue to practice what i know and try my best to learn quickly. My next goal is to learn the whole song of "Hey There Delilah" because right now all i now is the basic intro part. I hope that i will be able to continue my progress as smoothly as it is going right now.

My 20% blog Week 6

One of the best ways to get out of our comfort zone as humans is to face your fears. However facing your fears can be a challenge to most ordinary people. Only a handful of people are able to face their fear without really having a second thought about it. Taking chances and risks is also a great way to break through your comfort zone. Taking risks can be intimidating because it involves you doing things that you would never normally do. That is what our project is focusing on, we are trying to show people how to get out of their comfort zone by doing exactly this. The best way to do this is just try something weird. Do something embarrassing on purpose this will help you to become used to getting over awkward moments and continuing on quickly. Being with a friend is also helpful when you do things of this sort, because it will give you more confidence when someone you know is by your side.

Miguel's 20% Project Week 5

This week we were able to research other people's blogs about the same topic. We found out that most of the information, about social interactions, is about the same. Most of what they are focusing on is telling people to try to overcome their fears, and to think positively. Shy people usually feel like they are under a spotlight and constantly being watched. This means that doing things that you wouldn't normally do will actually put you under a spotlight. Some people get hyped up by things like this and they feed off of it. Embracing opportunities to meet new people will also help you find new friends and have an easier time being yourself. Having a few good, meaningful friends is always a better option than having a couple hundred people as friends when some don't even know you. However the best thing to do is to always be yourself, if you do this then you will have plenty of friends that trust and care about you.

My 20% Project Blog Week 3

Week 3

This week my group members and I were looking at how shy, non-communicative people react. These types of people usually have difficulty in the areas of nonverbal interaction. For example, they don't know how to read body language and they have problems finding the interpersonal boundaries between other people. Shy people also don't show interest in other people which makes talking to other people hard for them. Empathy is another big part of social interactions, because it shows that you really care about others and their feelings. For example, when one of their friends is crying they have the empathy to go ask whats bothering them, or when someone is smiling it also makes them want to smile. For this reason, shy people and others like them have trouble empathizing with others, this problem is what we will be focusing on for our 20% project. This is why we are doing weird things to people to show shy people why it is important to socially interact and have fun with some friends.
